Ahh, constructive criticism. Asking someone you don't know to tell you why your work, your life, you blood Sweat and TEARS!!! sucks.
Would you walk up to someone on the street and say, "Hi! What's wrong with me?"
But we writers do it all the time. Is it demeaning? It shouldn't be. An editor is there to make your work shine, stand out... grab people by the pubes and yank!!!
I'm relatively new to all this, and it was a HUGE eye-opener to see the amount of "red ink" on my first professionally edited piece. I don't agree with all of it, but I do agree with quite a bit and I can see why some parts of my writing don't work.
So... I'm six chapters in and I've added 3,000 words to "The Unauthorized Autobiography of Ethan Jacobs" and I can't wait to get off work tomorrow and dive back in... So many ideas swirling in my noggin.
Time for sleep! Nightmares welcome.
